Acompalia Invited to an Event Organized by the British Consulate

Acompalia was invited to a special event hosted by the British Consulate in Torre del Mar on 7th March 2018. Different organisations, including Acompalia, providing welfare services to British nationals were invited to the Hospital of La Axarquía, in Torre del Mar, where we had the pleasure of meeting Charmaine Arbouin, the British Consul for Andalusia and Neil Hesketh of the University of Birmingham.

Acompalia was invited to a special event hosted by the British Consulate in Torre del Mar on 7th March.

During this informative morning, both of them presented the new “Support in Spain” website. This is a treasure trove of useful information drawn together in one place to support older and more vulnerable British nationals.

We hope it will also become a useful additional support tool in the work we carry out with Britons in our community.

The main goal of the website www.supportinspain.info is to encourage British residents over 50 to self-inform about social and health support issues.

This tool, resulting from a collaboration between the University of Birmingham, in the United Kingdom and the British Consulate, available in English and Spanish has also been developed to help social workers so that they can inform themselves of all available resources at hand.

In www.suportinspain.info you can search Helpful topics and find over 50 useful answers to questions on healthcare, welfare issues, financial benefits and more…

www.supportinspain is:

  • Useful online information, including details of Spanish and British authorities and voluntary organisations in your local area.
  • Aimed at helping British nationals over 50 who are resident in Spain, as well as other foreign residents who need extra advice.
  • Current coverage: Costa del Sol & Málaga (as well as Almuñecar)
  • Search available in English or Spanish

You can also search through a directory both by area and by type of support.

Please, visit and share the page and spread the news so that it may reach all those who may need it.
