La Azucarera – Art Exhibition

The elegantly restored building of the Sugar factory in Motril will host a group art exhibition from Acompalia Artistica. International and local artists will join together to show you their large scale contemporary works from 25th November—16th December 2017 to raise money and awareness for Acompalia. Come along and be inspired; listen to artists talks and various musical nights during the show.

Acompalia Artistica is the arty arm of Acompalia and is hosting a group art exhibition in the impressively, refurbished historic building of La Fábrica Azucarera Nuestra Señora del Pilar, The Sugar Factory in Motril. This exhibition will be a collection of large scale contemporary fine art pieces from international and local artists.

Opening times: Wednesday to Saturday, 7pm – 10pm.
Inauguration: Saturday 25th November, 7pm – 11pm.

The exhibition hall of the Sugar factory was chosen for its beauty and vast scale. Artists are so often limited to smaller spaces where they have to show their more commercial work. This exhibition aims to give a quantity of artists ample space, in an atmospheric venue, in which to exhibit their more experimental pieces.

Art lovers need beautiful environments to experience art and this space offers just that. The repurposing of the building has been well considered with the history of the sugar cane processing visible throughout, with lovingly preserved machine parts exhibited alongside contemporary paintings and sculptures.

Come and be inspired by the works of talented artists that you would never come across in a show together, if it wasn’t for Acompalia Artistica!

  1. It was a lovely experience last night. Both and enjoying the art but also seeing the way they have restored part of the old factory. It was a real pleasure. I will be going another day to look at the exhibition properly.
