Summer Ball Success

The second Acompalia Summer Ball on Friday 23rd 2016 held in the stunning grounds of Casa de Los Bates in Motril was another huge success and incidentally, also a complete sell out! And Fundraised 3,253€!

The evening began in the beautiful gardens with a Canapé and Cava reception serenaded by La Ley de Murphy. Then followed a welcome address by the President of Acompalia, Lindsay Ostervig who gave us the exciting news that Acompalia was at last, granted the Utilidad Publica (no. 7965) on July 1st this year. This has taken Lindsay and her committee 3 long years of negotiations and applications to various authorities to obtain, certainly a reason to celebrate.

A further reason for celebration was that Lindsay also introduced us to the renowned flamenco singer Pepe Luis Carmona Habichuela, and was delighted to announce that he has agreed to become Acompalia`s Patron. Pepe Luis sang some songs from his latest CD La Vida Llega and his beautiful wife Antonia Heredia who is a flamenco dancer in Granada´s Sacramonte, danced for us also.

At the end of her speech and just before dining began Lindsay was presented with a cheque for €1000.00 from Grupo ASV Funeraria of Almuñecar, our major sponsor for the Ball.

Guests were then wined and dined with a delicious 3 course meal which was enjoyed by all and the summer raffle was drawn (check the winners here).

After dining we went to the marquee where we were greeted by music from Los Gin Tonic, songs and music of Pepe Luis Carmona Habichuela and flamenco dancing by Antonia, and finally we ended with Disco dancing with DJ Jose Gonzalez Gijon.

Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the evening, the food and the company, even the weather just right for the occasion, certainly a night for celebrating. Acompalia is happy to announce that this special event fund-raised 3,253€!

Photographic memories of the evening are available on Jo Chipchase’s website, where you can order your photos or wall calendar 2017, to learn how to order you chosen photo(s) click here.
